This one-of-a-kind neckpiece is a sculptural composition inspired by seeds, crystal growth, and the quiet transformation found in nature. Rather than a pendant suspended from a chain, this piece is designed as a complete work—the pendant and chain are integral to one another.

At its center is a handcrafted copper medallion made from Project X™ Copper Metal Clay. The medallion began with a silicone mold I created from the samara seeds of my Japanese maple tree. After pressing the clay into the mold, it was fired and sintered into solid copper. A rich dark patina was then applied and selectively polished, allowing the warm copper highlights to emerge while preserving the intricate botanical textures.

Growing from behind the medallion is a cluster of hand-fabricated titanium crystals. Each crystal was individually formed, welded to niobium wire, and anodized so the facets and stems display their own unique interplay of color. Additional anodized niobium wires pass through the copper medallion and terminate in two pink cultured pearls, creating the impression that pearls are growing through the medallion. The remaining wires are secured with handcrafted straps and rivets, making the construction itself part of the visual language.

Balancing the composition on the opposite side are two stylized leaves fabricated from square Argentium® Sterling Silver wire. Their silver stem disappears behind the medallion before reappearing alongside one of the titanium crystals, visually connecting the botanical and crystalline elements. At the end of the stem is a silver ring adorned with anodized niobium jump rings in shades of pink, bronze, and blue, serving as the elegant transition point for the necklace.

Suspended beneath the medallion is another Argentium silver element: a hand-fabricated circular form made from square wire and accented with asymmetrically placed clusters of fused silver granules. At its center rests a hand-cut bezel-set cabochon of Indonesian chalcedony with vibrant chrysocolla and a naturally occurring native copper inclusion, echoing the colors and materials found throughout the piece while grounding the entire composition.

This neckpiece is an exploration of growth and connection—where seeds become leaves, crystals emerge from within, and every component is linked through a flowing, organic structure. The interplay of copper, silver, titanium, niobium, gemstones, and pearls creates a piece that feels simultaneously ancient, botanical, and contemporary.
